Flint Star - Resistance Management

Flint Star was developed as a strategy to manage the origination and development of fungicide resistance against chemical products. Flint Star contains two highly effective active ingredients which have different modes of action that work against the fungus. These different modes of action compliment each other.

The strobirilin group of fungicides, eg. Flint (trifloxystrobin) is the most effective group of funcidides to date for the control of sacb on apples and pears. After repeated exposure to strobirilin type fungicides, the scab fungi has the ability to change insofar that it will develop resistance against the said fungicides. In the different apple producing areas of the world (including Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Chilie and South Africa)incidences of resistance against strobirilins were reported.

The strobirilin type fungicides is of utmost importance for both the procucer and the manufacturer. In order to reduce the risk of fungi resistance against the active ingredients, two mixing partners with different modes of action were included in the Flint Star formulation. The total different modes of action of trifloxystrobin and pyrimethalnil against the fungus ensures that Flint Star, with it's unique double mode of action, controls the disese effectively.

The risk of fungicide resistance is reduced to a minimum with this combination
